Julia Kristeva (1941-) is a Bulgarian philosopher, psychoanalyst and feminist. She sought to adapt a psychoanalytic approach to these poststructuralist critiques. Although allied with Freud and Lacan, she rejected the stable, structuralist view of the subject.

She added detail to Lacan's understanding of infant psychosexual development.
