Seeds of Destruction

Book reviews > Bryan E. Sowell, Seeds of Destruction

Sowell, B.E. (2008). Seeds of Destruction: The Current Crisis in US Foreign Policy, Walnut Creek, TX: Sowell

Bryan Sowell is a retired teacher and debating coach who has put together in this book a cogent and compelling argument on the folly of the Bush administration's foreign policy.

Sowell is far from the loud voice of blind dissent that is often heard. He writes not with political bias but with the simple voice of a concerned citizen.

A core argument of this book is that whilst America pursues expensive wars of doubtful benefit, millions starve and the global reputation of the USA has plunged. The folly of this path is amply illustrated with both modern reference and historical writings, including citations from Russell to Einstein. When America could have been a humane proponent of peace it is now tragically seen as an aggressive prosecutor of war.

In part 2, Sowell's ethical roots and research are put forth with essays on man's spiritual imperative, covering authors from C.S. Lewis to Carl Jung to Galbraith.

If you want to read this passionately-written and well-argued book, then you can contact the author at rsowell@valornet.com.
