Words, pictures and stories

I found the presentation below the other day and thought it a splendid example of using pictures to enhance words.

You Can
View SlideShare presentation or Upload your own. (tags: humanity justice)

This presentation, without body language or vocal inflection, makes its point clearly and in a way that is engaging and effective. It's not just what you say that counts but very much how you say it.

Nicely also, the presentation uses storytelling to make its point and also highlights the value of stories (thus putting storytelling within storytelling -- neat!). Stories a very human process and we easily insert ourselves into the story, for example as the hero or maybe the victim.  The stories 'bring alive' a subject and can be used to make concrete difficult and abstract ideas. When you are telling a story, you can use pictures as in this example and also, when face-to-face, props and other devices that help make the story more real and immediate.
